In other countries people usually don't wear plastic and fake metal jewelry.

Answer:
I Dont understand that myself. I dont waste money on junk.

I think though, americans are very cheap when it comes to style and fashion

Answer:
Well, if we're talking about more easy and elegant pieces, real jewelry is costly and sort of a status symbol. Some people might feel jealous and feel like a fake will give them some of the same status.

Costume jewelry is just fun to wear though and lets you mix and match to fit your mood and outfit. I’ve a few real pieces that are the staples of my jewelry box and I have the ability to wear with whatever, but I have a lot more costume jewelry that I have to rotate depending on what I'm wearing and where I'm going. If I had to wear something different each day, it just wouldn't be feasible to have them made into real pieces.

Answer:
Sometimes it's a question of budget. Real gold and gems are high-priced, and most people can only afford a few pieces that aren't fake. Because people don't have very many real pieces, wearing them all the time just increases the chance that they'll get broken or lost. Most people just save their really good jewelry for special occasions, and get fake stuff for everyday use.

Answer:
Because we’re not as rich as other countries. Our economy is falling through the floor, so we have to worry if we are going to have enough money for gas to get us to work, so we have the ability to pay the rent and utilities. Not blowing our hard earned money on something as vain as 'jewelry'. Americans value the quality of our lives, more so than the quality of what we adorn ourselves with. Times are hard, too hard to be frivolous with our money.

Answer:
Yes, a lot of people in other countries DO wear plastic/fake jewelry. Fine jewelry is expensive, which is probably why most people don't wear it. Cheaper jewelry is also usually a lot trendier and fun, which is a large thing for young people. It's also often hard to find things at jewelry stores that aren't gaudy and disgusting (three colors of gold and four different gems in one necklace… who would buy that?)

Answer:
A. the price, and B. if someone does, it's usually a piece with sentimental value, and C. We save for special occassions like parties and weddings and whatnot. We wear stuff that isn't real on casual occassions. Wearing real gems and metals would dress up a casual outfit, which is something we don't really want, now is it?

Answer:
Of course people wear fake in other countries! Fine jewellery is high-priced, easy as, and not everyone can afford it so they purchase a cheaper version that's still pretty! If you;re lucky enough to be able to afford it then good for you but there's no shame in not being able to either.

Answer:
Can't afford the real deal.

Democrats ruined the economy, and everyone is out of work. All the jewelry went to the pawn shops.

Answer:
I think a lot of Americans wear fine jewelry, but the fact is whether they do or don’t it is TOTALLY UNIMPORTANT. It is a material thing..means nothing.

Answer:
i think you're misinformed due to your country's pathetically biased media. most adults here do indeed only wear real precious metals/stones, fake jewelry is mostly worn by young children for fun.

Answer:
I don't wear it because I can't afford it. I have a handful of pieces that are family heirlooms that I only wear on special occasions.

Answer:
