The only way you can tell is to have it tested. Since this means destroying the samples in most cases, it isn’t practical. If you are very concerned, unless you’re speaking something expensive, your only option is to discard the materials. Unless you are going to chew on the materials, they are not apt to be adult concerns, Children would be a different story if they just put the material in their mouth.
