I'm doing a jewelry project, and to help my marks i thought i'd do a type of on the internet survey on how many people have it. Could you also include what the piece is, and how pure it is? Thanks for your help. Maybe add in any sites that are good for finding oput facts about platinum, but that isn't a necessity.

I own a bunch of plantinum jewelry, and it's all of very good quality. I never wear it, as all of it is set with diamonds, and I rarely wear diamonds.

I probably have 5 or 7 rings, several necklaces, and several pairs of earrings (a couple of those are sets which match one of the necklaces). I also have a bracelet which is blended platinum with various colors of gold. My favorite of the necklaces is a fairly big drop with an antique look and a bunch of diamonds–I have worn it exactly once since I wore it the day I got married, so that's only twice in 18 1/2 years. The chain on it is actually white gold, because the chain was messed up, and the jeweler we took it to couldn't find platinum of the same quality to mend it with. It doesn't matter, since it lives in the safe deposit box.

I haven't paid for any of the pieces–all of them have been given to me by my parents, who bought a lot of jewelry when I was a kid. We lived in a country where the government was very unstable. Things were fine for my parents, since my dad was being paid in US dollars, but many of the wealthy people in the country got nervous and sold their jewelry, and my parents snapped up a collection which at the time was worth about $150K. Right before I got married, my mother had a lot of it appraised, and it has appreciated significantly. That's why it lives in the safe deposit box–I don't want to have to add a jewelry rider to my household insurance policy.
