i have these hideous clip on earrings and i am trying to find out if they are real gold or not, any tips on finding out?
Answer: Take a magnet and see if the earring will attract to the magnet, if it does then it is fake gold.
Answer: get a loupe or magnifier and have a good look at your earrings. You might be able to find some markings like the one mentioned, youmighth just find a manufacturer or you might be able to see some wear to denote gold plating etc. If there are stone settings, they will tell you a lot also. The overall quality might give you some ideas as well.
Answer: It will state 10,12,14,18 or 24k on the earring someplace if it is real
Take it to a Coin shop or a local jeweler they can run a test on them to see if they’re real or not
In my spare time I handcraft and sell jewelry
