When someone tells you that your engagement ring looks like a “facsimile” of a princess cut they’re calling it “fake”? My husband recently upgraded my wedding set to an pricey 1ct total weight three band ring. The middle stone on the engagement ring is 9 diamonds in a square pattern. I’m not one that’s intrigued by solitaire style engagement rings so I selected something unique. Anyway at the salon the other day this woman stated it looked like a facsimile of a princess cut and then started going into detail about wanting to buy a CZ ring she saw at wal-mart. So again I ask was she calling my rings fake?

Answer:
I think she just meant that when 4 smaller stones are put together to look like a larger stone, it's a facsimile of a solitaire. Your diamonds might be real, but it's a 1ct *total weight* ring, not a 1ct solitaire.

Answer:
She was referring to the fact that your center arrangement is similar to a single diamond cut in a “princess” cut. A princess cut is a diamond cut in a square.

Answer:
Yes she was basically calling your ring fake. Facsimile means reproduction.
